The Contaminant Guidebook is intended to serve as a reference document containing collected data and secondary research on targeted contaminants. It is designed to be continually updated and freely distributed.
IES’s goal is to provide comprehensive and accurate data on targeted contaminants and to do so without limiting applicability or audience. Contaminants are targeted based on their ability to be detected and analyzed, and the possibility of reducing prevalence by inducing behavior change in users. Contaminants are also targeted based on an evaluation of their relative toxicity, abundance, government regulation status, current scientific findings, and level of public awareness. All information that IES compiles is a result of independent, objective research of peer-reviewed content.
